An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Radioactive Waste Lead at Vulcan NRTE. The role will take a lead with all management and sentencing of waste on the site and will ensure appropriate strategies and plans are in place to demonstrate compliance with all nuclear and environmental regulation relevant to site operations. Why Rolls-Royce?

Rolls-Royce is one of the most enduring and iconic brands in the world and has been at the forefront of innovation for over a century. We design, build and service systems that provide critical power to customers where safety and reliability are paramount. We are proud to be a force for progress, powering, protecting and connecting people everywhere. We'll provide an environment of caring and belonging where you can be yourself. An inclusive, innovative culture that invests in you, gives you access to an incredible breadth and depth of opportunities where you can grow your career and make a difference. What we offer

We offer excellent development opportunities, a competitive salary, and exceptional benefits. These include bonus, employee support assistance, and employee discounts. Hybrid working is a way in which our people can balance their time between the office, home, or another remote location. It's a locally managed and flexed informal discretionary arrangement. As a minimum we're all expected to attend the workplace for collaboration and other specific reasons, on average three days per week. What you will be doing

Key accountabilities of the role include: Leading the Radioactive Waste element of the Vulcan programme, overseeing day-to-day management of waste on site and ensuring on-site management and sentencing of waste in line with all relevant legislation, regulation, MOD and Rolls-Royce processes. Providing advice and support to the Site Authorisee and site teams on Radioactive Waste matters, and assuming a delegated responsibility from the Site Authorisee for all solid waste management on the site. Leading development of all necessary strategic and operational documentation for the site relating to the management of potentially Radioactive wastes of all categories and forms. Ensuring site compliance with AC 32/33/34 and SEPA radioactive waste disposal authorisation and managing the preparation and ongoing accountancy of all waste inventories and their associated submissions to UKRWI. Who we're looking for:

To be successful in this role you will need the following: Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline. Qualification as a Radioactive Waste Advisor (RWA) would be advantageous (or skills and experience and a willingness to work towards such a qualification), but not essential. Demonstrable knowledge of all radioactive waste types and their management is essential, to include strategic planning, assay, interim storage and disposal acceptance levels and criteria. Knowledge and experience of radioactive sampling techniques and processes to support site characterisation and groundwater sampling. Familiarity of working in a nuclear environment, including regulatory and authorisation compliance requirements. We're an equal opportunities employer. We're committed to developing a diverse workforce and an inclusive working environment. We believe that people from different backgrounds and cultures give us different perspectives. And the more perspectives we have, the more successful we'll be. By building a culture of respect and appreciation, we give everyone who works here the opportunity to realise their full potential. To work for Rolls-Royce Submarines you need to hold a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you don't currently already have this in place. Due to the nature of work the business conducts and the protection of certain assets, you must hold a UK nationality. Any dual nationals will require additional scrutiny and background checks prior to commencing work with RRSL. Job Category
