An exciting opportunity for an Advanced Ophthalmic practitioner has arisen for a highly motivated, innovative and enthusiastic individual to work within the multi professional Macular team at the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

As a key member of the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, you will be joining an exceptional team working together to help our patients to stay healthy, when they need it most.

Job responsibilities The successful candidate will be required to work with the Medical Retinal and Macular Practitioner team to deliver seamless ophthalmic care to the macular and medical retinal patients in our local communities. There must be a willingness to perform delivery of intra vitreal injection treatments of anti Veg f and Ozurdex implant treatments. The service has modernised its approach to its delivery to the service user with virtual Clinics for Macular and Retinal assessments and therefore will work in our virtual consultant led POD clinics reviewing our medical retinal diagnostic imaging to formulate ongoing care pathways, work autonomously in our virtual injection review clinics to formulate ongoing treatment plans for macular injection treatments. Participate in our weekly MDT meetings, primarily these MDT meetings review the digital imaging including FFA of our more complex patients. You will also be required to actively participate in weekly practitioner teaching meetings and support the junior band 6 practitioners on a daily basis as required. You may be required to participate in our retinal consultant led slit lamp clinics. Non-Medical Independent prescribing is desirable but not essential, however must be able to work with PGDs and have a desire to complete the Non-medical prescribing as professional registration allows. The role also includes acting as the patients advocate and supporting the patient pathway journey. You will work with the multi-disciplinary clinical team and head of service to deliver robust clinical care for patients attending the retinal & macular service at WEEU Wonford, Heavitree and our Community Sites these are currently at Axminster and Sidmouth community hospitals.

Working Pattern:

37.5 hours per week. Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 18:00 4 days per week.
