DJ Wightman & Co Pty Ltd have been providing Transport & Logistics solutions to the Refrigerated Transport Industry for over 60 years. Throughout this time, we have developed a strong long-term relationship with one of the country’s leading supermarket chains.
One significant component of our business is the South Australian Transport contract for this supermarket chain, which includes all metro & regional stores located in South Australia and minor interstate deliveries. This geographic footprint spans over sixty stores in total, delivering between 500 - 600 loads per week.
The position we require is a seasoned Transport Operations Manager who can join a team of professionals and elevate this contract and its existing operations to the expected efficiency levels.

Transport Operations Manager:
We seek an initiative-taking and experienced Transport Operations Manager to join our team at DJ Wightman. This full-time role is based in Edinburgh Parks, SA.
You will be responsible for overseeing the efficient and effective management of our local & regional refrigerated transport operation and meeting the customer suite of KPI's, as well as working in conjunction with the Safety Manager to meet/exceed all Safety standards of compliance.
Main focus:
Manage and coordinate all aspects of the transport operations, including:
Ensure safe and compliant transportation of all goods.
Fleet management, scheduling, and supervising a significant driver pool.
Management and mentoring of a team of Coordinators/Schedulers.
Consult with the Maintenance Manager to ensure effective maintenance and servicing of the fleet.
Focus on safety, continuous improvement, and cost optimisation.
Develop and implement strategies to improve operational efficiency and productivity.
Consult with customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure the timely delivery of goods, maintaining a DoT of 98.5%.
What we are looking for:
Experience in a similar transport operations management role, preferably within the road transport industry.
Strong understanding of transport regulations, compliance, and best practices.
Proven leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
Proficient in the use of computers, transport management systems, and telematic systems.
Effective communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to consult effectively with drivers, customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
Relevant tertiary qualifications in logistics or supply chain management would be highly regarded but not essential.
