Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our enthusiastic team on Ward 3 (Surgical Day Case Unit). The patient centred team focus on safely admitting all surgical elective patients and recovering patient's postoperatively, leading up to their discharge home. We cover a variety of surgical specialities including ENT, Breast, Urology, Colorectal, Gynaecology, General Surgery, Plastics, Vascular, Ophthalmology and Pain. As a department our nursing team deliver high standards of care, we are looking for a conscientious, reliable and energetic person to join our team. We are recruiting to 2 posts. There is a 30 hour post and 24 hour post available, the working pattern involves working across 7 days Monday - Sunday. A mandatory requirement for this role is an NVQ Level 2 qualification in Health and Social Care or Care Certificate completed including the required clinical competencies. Main duties of the job

The Senior Healthcare Support Worker will work as part of the ward team with supervision of registered practitioners to provide effective, safe patient focused care at all times. Contribute to the development of the care environment with a positive, professional attitude. Contribute to the maintenance of daily provision of service and care to meet the individual needs of patients and department. To support the smooth running of the ward and ensure patients, relatives and carers are dealt with in a friendly and efficient manner. You will ensure that policies and guidelines are adhered to. General nursing duties and setting up of clinics. Ensuring a clean and safe environment for patients and staff, maintaining infection control policies. Supporting our nursing team to provide a high standard of care. Assisting with procedures and treatments, preventing patient harm. Documentation (written and electronic). Attending and contributing to staff meetings and audit. Keeping up to date with mandatory training. Completing patient's observations. Being involved in the admission & discharge processes. Qualifications

NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care qualification / BTEC Level 3 in Health and Social Care / Care Certificate completed including the required clinical competencies. Effective level of numeracy and literacy skills Effective communication skills – written and verbal Knowledge
