Myrtle Group is currently seeking a part-time Practice Nurse to work 20 hours over a 4-5 day working week (Mon-Fri). This would be an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic, motivated registered nurse who has a passion to provide excellent patient care. To offer a high standard of evidence-based care to patients, to include health promotion, treatment, screening, and disease management. Specific clinical areas include: Intramuscular and subcutaneous injections Dressing and removal of sutures Primary and secondary prevention Travel Immunisations and Vaccinations Ear syringing Cervical smears Contraception uncomplicated Pill checks Elderly health assessments Electrocardiograms (ECGs) in the absence of an HCA Random blood tests Urinalysis Audiology ABPI Cervical Cytology Course Travel Immunisation and Vaccination course Long term conditions (Diabetes, Chronic Respiratory Illness etc) Adhere to code of professional conduct as stipulated by governing body Home Visits as per Practice/Operational needs About us

Myrtle Group was formed on 1st May 2024 following the successful merger of Heswall & Pensby Group Practice and Commonfield Road Surgery. Both sites have served their local population and patient list of approximately 22,500 patients for over 40 years and we are proud to maintain a high QOF achievement and be CQC rated as 'Good in all areas'. Our team consists of 19 GPs, 3 ANPs, and a team of practice nurses supported by a skilled group of auxiliary, administrative, and reception staff. Duties and Responsibilities Undertake and gain competence in some or all of the following clinical work, as required by the Lead Nurse and in conjunction with the needs of the practice: Intramuscular and subcutaneous injections Dressing and removal of sutures Primary and secondary prevention Travel Immunisations and Vaccinations Ear syringing Cervical smears Contraception uncomplicated Pill checks Elderly health assessments Electrocardiograms (ECGs) in the absence of an HCA Random blood tests Urinalysis Audiology ABPI Cervical Cytology Course Travel Immunisation and Vaccination course Long term conditions (Diabetes, Chronic Respiratory Illness etc) Adhere to code of professional conduct as stipulated by governing body Home Visits as per Practice/Operational needs Supplies & Equipment Ensure that equipment is used and stored as per manufacturers' recommendation Demonstrate awareness of due dates on equipment requiring calibration and/or maintenance Report any equipment that does not fulfill the manufacturers' operating criteria to the Lead practice nurse and/or maintenance person Liaise with Nursing Team when surgical stores require ordering Ensure that all stock is stored correctly as per COSHH regulations Pathological Specimens & Investigatory Procedures Undertake the collection of pathological specimens including intravenous blood samples (when required), swabs, cervical smears All procedures requiring collection of pathological specimens are performed within agreed Practice protocols and in accordance with the Health & Safety Executive Adhering to IPC Guidelines Administrative & Professional Responsibilities Participate in the administrative and professional responsibilities of the practice team. Ensure that all patient information following consultations, registration, and/or including telephone encounters are recorded accurately on the computer, using EMIS and READ CODE as appropriate Attend and participate in practice nurse meetings as able. Assist in the formulation of practice philosophy, strategy, and policy To participate in the formulation of practice protocols in conjunction with the SHA and/or WICCG. Order and maintain supply of drugs used in surgery. Undertake and participate in Practice protocols Research Projects Co-operate and support research undertaken by the Practice including the referral of suitable patients who may benefit as participants in research programmes Student/Staff Education & Training Participate in the induction, education, and training of all new members of practice staff including students of all disciplines where appropriate Liaison Maintain effective liaison with other health care teams concerned with patient care as appropriate and with all other disciplines within the practice, exercising regard for patient confidentiality at all times Professional Development Maintain continued education by attendance at courses and study days as deemed useful or necessary for professional development. Ensure PIN number is always valid Receive clinical supervision to further develop reflective skills resulting in increased clinical effectiveness in practice (dependent on organisational need) Participation in an annual individual performance review, including taking responsibility for maintaining a record of own personal and/or professional development Taking responsibility for own development, learning, and performance and demonstrating skills and activities to others who are undertaking similar work Ensure mandatory eLearning modules completed in a timely manner when due Person Specification

Qualifications

Degree in Nursing NMC Registration Understanding of Primary Care Experience

Clinical skills Experience of working in a healthcare or similar environment Experience of working with the public Chronic Disease Management Smears INR Immunisations Dressings Skills
