Location: London The Assistant Technical & Facilities Manager will assist and manage Events/Operations for Curzon’s Technical and Facilities Department and will ensure that the technical equipment is maximised and fully maintained. For this role, the successful candidate needs to have some experience of digital projection equipment. Responsibilities
Support the management team in all aspects of the cinema’s operations on a day-to-day basis ensuring that your venue delivers an exceptional customer experience. Run all technical related areas for Curzon Public and Private events, including all administration and preparation. Assist General Managers in the daily operational running of the technical department at all Curzon sites, using remote connection if required. Deliver appropriate training, coaching, and support. Provide effective support to the Technical and Facilities Manager and Events Team for all cinemas, offering advice or guidance where appropriate. Undertake technical training if required for digital projection, sound systems, and Event Cinema, and address technical problems that may arise. Ensure smooth delivery of all media onto screens, including event presentations, DCPs, and Event Cinema. Manage content including KDMs, DCPs, and satellite/fibre delivery. Maintain good housekeeping of all server drive space, delivery, and collection of content, ensuring secure storage. Report any technical issues to the appropriate support contracts and share information. Maintain and use all AV assets on site, including microphones, sound mixers, and lighting. Maintain and use all projection assets on site, including projectors, servers, sound equipment, screens, and associated mechanics. Facilitate the successful management and implementation of all H&S requirements, including audits, risk assessments, and general on-site management. Additional training will be provided if necessary. Escalate H&S or licensing issues to the General Manager and Technical and Facilities Manager. Operate and perform first line maintenance of all areas of the Technical Department, including 35mm and sound systems. Oversee any third-party technicians working within the building during theatre hire or film/multi-media festivals, ensuring all on-screen presentations meet high business standards. Understand the function of all mechanical plant within the building and assist with any first line site maintenance affecting operational running. Liaise with on-site contractors as needed. Provide appropriate cover and support for the business across all trading days, which may include some ‘on call’ support as required. Assist with any new site openings as required. Provide operational guidance and support for the Curzon Franchise operation where necessary. Undertake any other ad-hoc technical tasks or reasonable requests within the remit of the job. Experience in a digital projection department. Good numerical and analytical skills. Knowledge, enthusiasm, and passion for movies and digital projection work. Good industry knowledge and an ability to keep up to date with relevant advancements. Strong communication skills with the ability to influence others in a credible and confident manner. Ability to focus on all task areas to accomplish goals. Able to anticipate, identify, and take action to exceed guest expectations. Ability to perform effectively under pressure and tight deadlines. Ability to carry out tasks using own initiative. Ability to lead and work effectively within a team, sharing information and valuing input from others. Willingness to work flexible hours as required, including occasional overnight stays near sites. Ability to travel easily between all sites (existing and forthcoming developments).
