We bring together researchers from different disciplines such as psychology, neurology and anatomy, and we use a wide range of neuroscientific and behavioural methods. The ICN is based within the division of Psychology and Language Sciences (PaLS), and has active research links with many other departments and institutes across UCL, including the Institute of Neurology, the Wellcome Department of Human Neuroimaging, the UCL Institute of Mental Health and the Sainsbury Wellcome Centre for Neural Circuits and Behaviour. About the role

The post is offered full time (1.0 FTE) and is funded on an open-ended basis. The salary for the post will be according to the non-clinical academic payscale (including London weighting of £4,613) as follows: Professor - Grade 10 : negotiable on the professorial scale, but not less than

per annum We seek to appoint an internationally recognised leader in the field of cognitive neuroscience at the level of Associate Professor (Grade 9) or Professor (Grade 10). The UCL Academic Careers Framework provides detailed information regarding the criteria required to meet these two grades. The successful applicant will play an important role in shaping the future development of the ICN and be vital to strengthening ICN’s position as a centre of excellence for research and teaching in the field. You will have an international reputation in the field, a strong track record of relevant peer-reviewed academic publications and of obtaining significant and sustained research grant funding. We seek candidates who will forge wide-ranging collaborations with the broader community of researchers at UCL and beyond. Applicants are invited to apply from across the broad field of cognitive neuroscience, in a way that will complement existing research strengths at the ICN. Candidate fields include, but are not limited to, developmental, social, clinical and affective cognitive neuroscience, and approaches with relevance for mental health (a strategic priority for the Faculty of Brain Sciences). It is expected that the successful applicant will bring a broad perspective to the overarching question of how we can understand human behaviour and cognition in terms of mechanisms within the brain, and how this understanding can be applied to the psychological, social, clinical and scientific challenges facing us. S/he will provide direction for junior researchers addressing these questions in a range of populations, from neurotypical children and/or adults, to people with developmental disorders, acquired neurological problems, acquired sensory problems or mental health issues, all of whom offer different insights to this field. The appointee will have excellent management skills, as well as interpersonal skills with both colleagues, students and research participants. The successful applicant will be expected to develop innovative research-led teaching, via the development of specialised content for undergraduate and/or postgraduate level degrees and continuing professional development courses. They will also be expected to perform the normal administrative duties of a senior member of academic staff. About you

The successful applicant will have a PhD in a relevant subject area. You will have an international reputation as an expert and leader in the field, plus a strong track record of significant and sustained research grant funding. Evidence of high quality teaching and research supervision at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, is also essential. What we offer
