As a Senior Azure Data Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in developing and maintaining the big data platform that empowers Bank First to unlock self-serve insights and reporting. Initially, you’ll focus on building out data warehousing capabilities, migrating legacy systems, and modernising the bank's data infrastructure in an Azure cloud-based environment. You will work collaboratively across business and technical teams to design and implement robust data pipelines and data solutions, ensuring seamless data integration and transformation for various banking functions. By driving forward our data migration to Azure, you will help shape our data architecture and governance practices to build a data-first culture that powers better decision-making across the bank. In a typical day, you will get involved in: Developing and supporting end-to-end batch and near real-time data flows / pipelines. Designing and optimising SQL queries to facilitate data transformation and ingestion into models (including SQL server administration). Design and develop ETL pipelines in / out of data warehouse using Azure Data Factory. Building and managing data solutions for the cloud, focusing on Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, and Data Lake Storage. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to interpret data needs and resolve any data-related issues. Optimising data solutions for performance and scalability, with a strong focus on cloud migration from on-premises systems. Identifying and solving data quality issues through robust monitoring and validation strategies. Leveraging the Power Platform (Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate) to drive data visualisation and automation. Reporting capabilities (set-up) for current and future use by the business using a preferred self-service model. About you You are a seasoned operator in this space - a passionate and results-driven Senior Azure Data Engineer with an extensive background in developing and supporting data engineering solutions in the financial services industry. Your technical expertise in Azure cloud platforms and data engineering, coupled with your problem-solving mindset, allows you to deliver high-impact solutions that drive business outcomes. Your experience in migrating on-premises workloads to Azure cloud will ensure your success in this role. You will come equipped with all of the following: Solid experience with tools and platforms: SQL, Python, Azure Data Factory, Azure Blob Storage, Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS), SSIS, SSRS, and PowerShell scripts to execute data engineering tasks efficiently. Significant experience in data engineering / data quality / data security with expertise in real-time and batch processing in the financial services sector. Experience in migrating on-prem workloads to Azure cloud. Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field. Microsoft Certified (highly regarded). Experience documenting data models, building data CI / CD pipelines and processes to ensure transparency and knowledge sharing. Experience with the Power Platform (Microsoft’s suite of tools including Power BI, Fabric, Power Apps and Power Automate). This is a senior role that requires strong communication skills with the ability to engage and collaborate effectively with stakeholders across technical and business teams, and the ability to provide maintenance support following migration. You will need a strong understanding and appreciation of data management, data quality and data governance best practices to be successful.
