The Clinical Nurse Specialist for Paediatric Oncology will provide specialist nursing care and support in the management of children and young people being investigated, diagnosed and treated for Cancer. This will involve dealing with complex and sensitive situations, providing specialist nursing and individualized care to children and their families in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team. The post holder will have sound knowledge and experience of Cancer in Children and Young people, they will demonstrate high level skills in clinical practice as well as developing and maintaining policies and standards of nursing care and staff development from an Oncology perspective. The post holder will offer education and training to members of the multidisciplinary team. The post holder will lead on care for children and young people with Cancer, this will involve at times breaking bad news and taking the appropriate action in emergency or unforeseen situations. They will provide support and education to children and their parents/carers. We are a Level 1 Paediatric Shared care Oncology unit providing day care, bolus chemotherapy and febrile neutropenia care to Oncology patients at North Middlesex University Hospital. In the near future we are hoping to become an enhanced POSCU, and duties will include giving infusional day case chemotherapy. About us
