At BakerHicks, we provide an incredible range of design and engineering consultancy services to clients who demand exceptional results. Specialising in complex infrastructure, process and built environments across the full project life cycle, our disciplines range from initial architecture to civil and structural, building services, specialist high voltage and process engineering services, programme management and CDM consultancy, using the latest innovations in Building Information Modelling (BIM) for the most efficient and cost-effective design.

BakerHicks have grown rapidly in the Transmission & Distribution sector over the last 9 years and have been successful in winning a number of major projects within the UK. As the demand to deliver exceptional engineering design from our clients continues to grow, opportunities have arisen for Graduate High Voltage Engineers to join our ever-expanding team.

Our Graduate Programme

Our two-year graduate scheme will start your journey to becoming a Chartered Engineer, giving you the opportunity to work with industry-leading teams and equip you with the skills that you need to begin a successful career in design and engineering. You’ll be part of the team and get involved in a wide variety of projects to develop your experience from the very first day.

Principal Responsibilities

A Graduate Engineer in our HV team will be responsible for ensuring the quality and consistency of the team's output in the production and control of drawings and technical documents and will also work with senior members of the team to assist during the bid process in order to secure further work.

You will gain experience (depending on your specific role) in the production of all designs, calculations, reports & drawings associated with the new or modification of EHV projects from 11kV – 400kV. This will cover the production of bonding/line diagrams, cable rating calculations, induced voltage calculations, short circuit force calculations, thermo-mechanical thrust calculations, pulling tension calculations, and production of material specification lists.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for individuals with a passion for Electrical or High Voltage engineering and have or are set to achieve at least a 2:1 in a relevant engineering degree, such as Electrical Engineering or Power Engineering.

You’ll also need to feel confident to challenge the status quo, strive for perfect delivery and possess a willingness to get involved with every opportunity to develop yourself and put our customers first.

Due to the recent changes to salary thresholds set by UKVI, BakerHicks graduate positions do not meet the requirements to support new entrant visa sponsorship. Therefore, all applicants must have the permanent right to work in the United Kingdom.

Additionally, many of the positions within our company are subject to security clearance. This means that your eligibility for certain roles may be affected by various factors. The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain security clearance for this role as required by our clients and sectors.
