A doctor appointed to this grade shall have full registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council (GMC); Shall have completed at least four years’ full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a less than full-time or flexible basis) at least two of which will be in a specialty training programme or specialty registrar locum appointment for training (LAT); Or shall have equivalent training, experience or competencies, either in the UK or overseas. Applications are welcome for the above Permanent, part time (16 hours per week) post based in with the Rapid Assessment & Care Team (REACT), St John’s Hospital, Livingston in NHS Lothian. The successful applicant will join a team of enthusiastic and motivated clinicians in a department recognised for its innovation and passion for improvement. They will lead the Rapid Access Frailty Clinic, working synergistically with the award-winning West Lothian Hospital at Home Team to provide Comprehensive Geriatric Assessments (CGA), proactive frailty assessments and interventions to improve patient outcomes and avoid acute hospital admissions. There is full access to diagnostic facilities and specialist input from the wider Medical Unit at St John’s Hospital, close support from Consultant Geriatricians, as well as multidisciplinary team working with nursing and allied health professionals. As well as clinical duties, this post will have a commitment to the delivery of undergraduate teaching and postgraduate training within Medicine of the Elderly at St John’s Hospital. Other non-clinical interests are encouraged, for example management, education, quality improvement, service development and research. Individual continued professional development and subspecialty interests will also be fully supported.
