Job Description

Aspiring Psychologist This role is ideal if you have career aspirations in behavioural neuroscience, clinical, counselling, developmental, educational, neuropsychology, physiological, school, and social psychology roles. Would you like to make a difference in children's quality of life? Are you keen to gain experience for children who have SEN, especially mental health issues? We are looking for a dedicated Aspiring Psychologist to support children with moderate learning difficulties and additional mental health needs. This school is based in Hailsham for children aged 4-16 and has specialized in SEMH to provide exceptional education and extra help for traumatized children and young people. You will be helping children who have come from trauma/neglected backgrounds, challenging behaviour, ADHD or Autism, and also have developed mental health issues due to their needs and require additional support with improving social, emotional, and mental well-being. You will make a real difference to the lives of the children. Responsibilities of an Aspiring Psychologist: Assist the class teacher in providing the learning experience of students. Ability to perform conflict resolution and de-escalation. Behaviour and pastoral support. Take an active role in forward planning with therapists. Practical approach to meet the individual needs of students. Willing to work 1:1 and in small groups with students. Ensure safeguarding of students, in line with procedures. Attend staff meetings and complete appropriate CPD. Requirements of an Aspiring Psychologist: Impose patience and understanding. Have an understanding of challenging behaviour. Always be adaptable in any given situation. To be able to develop trusting and positive relationships with students. A psychology degree is desirable but not necessary.
