Purpose of the Role
The post holder will be required to:
Identify talent for each age group (U16 – U21/B team), for the Huddersfield Town Academy.
Develop a player recruitment network within an allocated region.
Align with scouting and recruitment processes throughout the Club’s Academy.
Functional Links
Internal:
Academy Manager, Head of Academy and B Team Recruitment, Academy Strategic Advisor, Football Administration Manager (Academy Secretary), Coaching Staff, Scouting Staff, Staff and Managers throughout the organisation.
External:
Voluntary Scouts, Scouts / Player Recruitment staff from other clubs, Local football clubs, Regulatory bodies (e.g., FA, Premier League, EFL), Parents / Carers.
Role Specific Responsibilities
The post holder will:
Identify talented youth footballers who have the potential to play in the First Team at Huddersfield Town AFC.
Operate in line with the Club’s strategy on talent identification.
Ensure that players are identified, observed, monitored, tracked and reported on as per instructions and guidance from the Head of Academy and B Team Recruitment.
Implement the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) scouting reports in line with Academy player profiles.
Continually monitor scouting reports and follow up on any players identified.
Attend Academy departmental meetings and in-service training for Scouts.
Oversee the development of strong relationships with the other clubs, scouts, and agents.
Develop strong links with other professional clubs as part of the Academy recruitment strategy to identify and recruit players.
Respond and follow up any recommendations or trial requests from external individuals.
Fulfil any other scouting duties as directed by the Head of Academy and B Team Recruitment, Academy Manager, or any other Senior Leader.
Undertake CPD in line with the Academy requirements.
Have a flexible and professional attitude and to be a genuine team player with a desire to seek solutions and success.

The variable nature of this role requires the post holder to be willing to work unsociable hours, including evenings and weekends.

Up to £4,200 per annum, based on a full-time equivalent salary of £24,500 per annum (depending on skills, qualifications, and experience).
Part-time (6 hours per week, which will mostly be weekends).
Fixed term to June 2026 in the first instance.
We are in the exciting position of expanding our Academy player recruitment team and we are looking for talented individuals to assist with live scouting processes, to ensure Huddersfield Town is at the forefront of player talent identification for our Professional Development Phase playing squad.
Reporting to the Head of Academy and B Team Recruitment, as an Academy Scout you will fulfil player scouting responsibilities by attending live football when required and making recommendations based on the Club’s playing requirements. The successful candidate will be required to work unsociable hours, including evenings and weekends, to fulfil the requirements of the role. This role will predominantly be based in the Midlands and Southern England.
We are looking for applicants who have a genuine passion for scouting who are able to deliver bespoke solutions within the context of Academy player recruitment, and who are committed to excelling in a modern footballing environment.
