Garage Technician
to join our new Academy team here at Williams Racing. In this role, you’ll be at the forefront of our test team’s success. Your primary responsibility will be handling tyres for our race cars, including crack checking, cleaning, maintenance, and fitting tyre blankets. You will also manage the delivery and collection of wheels from the tyre supplier. Working closely with the chassis engineer, you’ll ensure compliance with FIA tyre usage regulations and contribute to the garage build-up and pack-down. This role offers the exciting opportunity to allocate up to 10% of your time to the F1 racing calendar. Key Responsibilities:
Transport, build, and operate garage facilities at test events. Maintain and present the garage at test events. Manage assigned freight and equipment. Assist in procurement, modification, servicing, and functionality checks of equipment. Load/unload trucks and freight, taking responsibility for specific items. Assemble/disassemble equipment for transport and operation. Perform maintenance and servicing of equipment at the factory and events. Ensure cleanliness and presentation of all equipment. Operate equipment in support of car operations at events. Report faults or issues with equipment/components. Direct staff as needed, instilling good working practices. Complete tasks within anticipated time frames. Support team collaboration and teamwork. Build up and pack down the garage environment. Work longer hours at the factory when required. Record and analyze department performance measures. Identify and implement improvements for the department. We are looking for a
Garage Technician
with the following skills and experience: Enthusiastic self-starter with collaborative skills. Self-sufficient and responsible for task completion. Experience in loading and securing valuable freight by land, sea, and air. Previous motorsport experience as a garage technician, ideally with tyres, fuel, or electrical installation. Team player comfortable working with internal and external entities. Flexible approach to working hours during events and peak times. Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word). Impeccable attention to detail and ability to handle multiple projects. *In compliance with national Secure Freight Consigner conditions, five years’ continuous employment, education and/or training must be evidenced and any gaps exceeding 28 days accounted for. A criminal record check will also be carried out. This will be explained in more detail during the interview. What can Williams offer?
