Accounts Payable Accountant

to join our finance team in Fareham, UK, with some flexibility for home working as a hybrid solution after probation.

What you will be doing

In this position, your work will include processing invoices, managing payment runs, and inventory reporting. You will have the support of the finance team and be expected to have an understanding of accounts payable and experience working with vendors. We hope you have a forward-thinking attitude and a curiosity to challenge the status quo.

As Accounts Payable Accountant, your work will focus on these responsibilities:

Manage accounts payable queries and invoice clearing, ensuring matching and correct posting of PL invoices.

Create and maintain supplier accounts with appropriate approvals.

Create BACS runs for vendor payments and raise manual bank payments where required.

Provide weekly cash flow reports and ensure business liquidity.

Maintain the GR-IR account, working closely with Purchasing to minimize differences.

Chase invoice clearing for month-end closing and advise workflow users as appropriate.

Raise and post accrual and pre-payment journals in line with accounting procedures.

Handle inventory reporting and settlements, including provisions required for reporting purposes.

Complete balance sheet reconciliations and internal controls as required.

Identify potential operational efficiencies and improvements to working practices.

Maintain financial controls within the business.

Prioritize workload to meet competing demands of the organization.

Instill and promote working relationships with all levels of management and employees.

Assist with ad hoc tasks and financial audits, and provide cover for reception and AR where necessary.

Excel skills, including pivot tables and vlookups.
