An exciting opportunity has arisen with our Rehabilitation ward at Brooke House to recruit an Activities Facilitator. Brooke House is a specialist rehabilitation and recovery ward based in Houghton-le-Spring, Sunderland with 10 inpatient beds. This post is an excellent opportunity for staff who are interested in facilitating the delivery of therapeutic activity within an inpatient environment alongside a strong Multi-Disciplinary Team. Applications are invited from candidates who possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the enthusiasm and passion to embed and develop therapeutic activity in an Adult Mental Health service. You must have a strong commitment to the delivery of high quality, safe, patient care and be a good role model in reflecting the Trust’s core Values. You will be provided with training opportunities to develop your knowledge and skills. The successful applicant should also show ability to organise and implement positive change into the ward environment. Main duties of the job
The post holder’s focus will be to work towards creating an activity-based culture within the community based ward environment. They will both provide and co-ordinate a range of social, recreational and leisure activities within the ward. The post will require the successful applicant to work a shift pattern across 7 days. You would be expected to take an active role in the implementation of Talk 1st and the Safe Ward interventions. The post holder would work closely with the occupational therapy team, peer supporter and as part of the wider ward team. The post holder will also undertake designated tasks from both nursing and Occupational Therapy treatment plans for identified individuals. The Post holder will receive regular supervision from an identified supervisor within the ward team. In conjunction with qualified nursing and Occupational Therapy staff, co-ordinate a timetable of activities on each area to be implemented by self and support worker staff. To work with individual service users on delegated areas of their treatment plans to help facilitate recovery. To contribute to the monitoring, evaluation and modification of service users’ interventions in order to measure progress and ensure effectiveness. To develop and demonstrate an understanding of the Occupational Therapy process, particularly activity analysis and graded interventions. To ensure an appropriate environment and equipment is available to carry out identified activities. Person specification

Knowledge and training NVQ level 3 or willing to work towards Skills
