Activities Manager Key Objective:

To ensure meaningful, enjoyable, engaging and stimulating activities are planned, organised, promoted and implemented in the home for all residents in line with principles, policies, procedures and best practice guidelines for relationship centered care, clinical care and dementia care. The Lifestyle lead will motivate, inspire and mobilise team members in the home to be involved and engaged in the provision of stimulating activities within the residents' environment. They will spend 80% of their time delivering vibrant activities to all the residents across all the units in the home. They will provide information to report on the effectiveness of activities and regularly review, revise and refresh the activities programme for all residents. They will engage with the community to develop effective relationships to ensure that there is a constant and varied programme of activities in the home led by talented people. Work with the home team to promote the home with strong external links to the local community and charities. Activities Manager Key Responsibilities To plan, organise, promote and implement a meaningful, enjoyable, engaging and stimulating activities programme, based on relationship centred care principles. Motivate, inspire and mobilise other care team members within the home. Deliver 80% of their working time on vibrant and meaningful activities across all units of the home with targeted programmes that meet the needs of the resident groups such as those who live in residential communities, those living with dementia and those who are bed bound and are not able to easily participate in the home programme. Lead on the design, development and implementation of the home newsletter that reports on the home’s events and activities of interest. Ensure records relating to activities are accurate and up to date. Plan regular reviews with each resident, in partnership with the care team members and next of kin, where appropriate, to further enhance the lived experience of each resident in the home. Conduct regular reviews of all activities programmes to measure and assess effectiveness, revising and refreshing activities for all residents as a result. Ensure events, activities and achievements are communicated to the Head of Sales and Marketing where possible for good news stories (social media). Build strong and positive external links within the local community for the home. Build volunteering opportunities within the home. Organise local charity events hosted within the home. Ensure all regulatory and statutory requirements are met and company policies and procedures are adhered to. Role model relationship centred care within all team members to empower residents with their lifestyle choices. Responsible for ensuring there is always sufficient equipment and resources available for the team to meaningfully engage and occupy residents. To actively engage with residents in conversation and meaningful occupation related to their lifestyle choices at a level and pace that values the individual and respects their dignity and communication differences. To respond in a timely way to residents who are distressed or seek assistance. To ensure the General Manager is informed of any incidents, issues or concerns. Work with the care team members to ensure risk assessments have been carried out on all outings and all documentation is complete and recorded. Ensure risk assessments related to activities and volunteering are completed within the home and safe working practices are always followed. Ensure all H&S requirements are met, and company policies and procedures relating to H&S are adhered to. Ensure there is effective communication and preparation to the activity program to all interested parties. Ensure that activities are planned within the home's budget and monitored. To obtain regular feedback on lifestyle opportunities from residents and relatives. To work with the Dementia Ambassador to promote meaningful activity and occupation through life story work and to support the implementation of the by your side dementia strategy. To produce the home’s newsletter, using famileo where appropriate. To undertake any other duties that may arise from time to time. Person specification Qualifications/Education NVQ HSC level 3 or QCF HSC award 3 (or higher) Experience Proven track record of organising, coordinating, motivating others. Experience of organising and scheduling programmes of events or activities. Experience of working and/or engaging with older people (both living with and without Dementia). Experience delivering high quality relationship centered care. Skills/Knowledge Excellent communication (written and verbal) and clinical skills. Knowledge of and competence in core Microsoft office applications. Passionate and keen to develop new skills. Listening skills. Data management (for record keeping and review). Ability to organise efficiently and prioritise workloads whilst under pressure. Personal Qualities Reliable, flexible, adaptable, punctual. Willing and able to work outside the standard work hours. Approachable and friendly. Positive in outlook and manner. Self-motivated. Able to always promote a professional image for the company. Able to travel to other RCH homes as required (training).
