What will you be doing? Actuarial Associate Location: We embrace a hybrid working approach, we would expect this person to work from our Dorking office at least 1 day per week, with a further day spent in Dorking, London or Basingstoke. What will you bring? We are looking for an Actuarial Associate to join our Finance & Underwriting team at Unum UK. This exciting opportunity offers a dynamic and supportive environment to develop your actuarial career while rotating through our key functions, including Reporting, Actuarial Risk & Capital, Systems, and Pricing. You will work closely with senior management, leading projects and providing expert actuarial analysis to drive business insights and decision-making. This role will start in Reporting- analysing, interpreting, and reporting on financial and actuarial data. Key Responsibilities: Own actuarial tasks, understand the broader business implications and provide actuarial and senior management with comprehensive insight into those tasks and their outcomes. Provide training to actuarial trainees and ensure effective scheduling and team coordination. Communicate technical actuarial topics to a wide range of audiences, influencing cross-functional decision-making. Identify and implement improvements to streamline actuarial processes. Required Skills & Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years’ actuarial experience and 6 actuarial exam passes. Strong proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office (R and VBA desirable). Highly numerate with excellent attention to detail. Strong communication skills, with the ability to lead and coach junior colleagues. A relevant degree (preferably 2:1 or above) is ideal. Open to candidates from various actuarial backgrounds, including General Insurance and Pensions.
