Our teams are trusted as scheme actuaries to over 200 pension schemes, our actuarial services include advice on pensions strategy and funding position, regular valuations, journey planning, de-risking, GMP equalisation, and integrated risk management.

We are looking for an Actuarial Consultant to join our GMP team. This is a rapidly growing team and represents an exciting opportunity to be involved in GMP equalisation and other rectification projects.

GMP equalisation is currently a subject on the agenda for all Trustees’ meetings. This role represents an opportunity to be at the forefront of this area.

The primary purpose of the role is to assist in the provision of advice in relation to GMP equalisation and other rectification exercises and to deliver the results to clients.

The purpose of the team is:

To advise clients in relation to benefit rectification projects both for ongoing pension schemes and those heading towards buy in/out or wind up.

To carry out benefit rectification projects, liaising with other departments where required and to provide technical support to the rest of the department. Job Description

Key responsibilities include: Provides high quality actuarial work to the Actuarial & Investment Practice from within the Actuarial & Investment Technical Centre. Producing and checking technical calculations and draft client advice for Scheme Actuaries in connection with all areas of funding and risk including (but not limited to): Section 179 actuarial valuations. Individual calculations (where relevant). Coding of actuarial software to perform calculations of pension benefits. Works with AITC Team Leader/Manager to ensure smooth delivery for all projects within the AITC. Carries out research, development and special project work as agreed by managers and to deliver outputs within agreed timescales. Experience, qualifications, and key skills Full or part-qualified Actuary or qualified by experience. Up to date pensions industry knowledge. Ability to produce and check actuarial work to a high standard. Proactive and works positively with colleagues. Experience with PFaroe software.
