Working within the Re & ILS Actuarial team (part of the wider Risk Team), you will be supporting our underwriting efforts on a specific portfolio or lines of business. Our role is to facilitate the understanding and management of the Underwriting Risk we are taking, accessing the market and individual cedant data and using it in a way to make the optimal underwriting decisions. Your role will cover a range of areas, from individual treaty pricing, to development of new pricing tools, to market insights and portfolio analysis. You’ll also have the opportunity to broaden your business knowledge by providing analyst support on other lines and aspects of reinsurance business. The role:
Contribute to the development and application of pricing and accumulation control models for use in all lines of reinsurance underwriting Pricing of individual submissions and preparing documentation and reports to communicate the results to underwriters Development, maintenance and reporting of appropriate risk metrics for your specific portfolio/line of business Support and enhance underwriting and risk management by the collection and reporting of relevant data Production of ad hoc portfolio reports, deep dives and profitability metrics Provide general reinsurance actuarial/analytical support Our must haves
Excellent mathematical and analytical skills and a demonstrated logical, numerical and structured approach to problem solving High proficiency in working with and visualizing data and databases using mediums such as SQL/Snowflake and Tableau/Power BI Ability to implement statistical techniques in code such as R or Python A driven individual and effective team player. Ability to prioritise work and manage effectively and accurately under pressure, ensuring that deadlines are met. A confident communicator with demonstrable communication skills, both oral and written. Prepared to study towards Actuarial qualifications. You’ll get a competitive study support and reward package, including paid study leave to support those sitting the Actuarial examinations.
