Following successful flexible working arrangements, we have an exciting post available for an enthusiastic dietitian to support the dietetic service, working mainly at the Royal Stoke University Hospital and a day per week at County Hospital. Main duties of the job

The post holder will be covering largely inpatient wards including Neurosurgery and Acute Trauma Rehab Unit as a shared role. You will cover adult acute medicine and respiratory wards. As a specialist centre for non-invasive ventilation (NIV), we accept patients from across West Midlands for PEG placement under ventilation cover. You will work in collaboration with other dietitians to provide this service and liaise with dietitians in the patient’s own locality to facilitate safe and timely discharge. You will develop and take part in staff teaching, patient education events, student training, and support the team in audit and service developments. To work as part of the multi-disciplinary team providing dietetic input to patients and to liaise with other disciplines and agencies as required in the planning and implementation of patient care. Delivers specialised dietetic services to patients, using a wide range of appropriate and sensitive communication skills and counselling, and behaviour change techniques. Uses analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret, analyse and evaluate complex information from a variety of sources e.g. medical notes, diagnostic tests, clinical investigations and information from patients and carers. To provide individually tailored advice for patients. To educate patients and their relatives/carers about their condition and its significance and ensure that care information and support is available. To use negotiating and persuasive skills to facilitate effective service delivery within the specialty team and Directorate. To support and liaise with the dietitians, dietetic assistants, and student dietitians. To actively participate in ward meetings, ward rounds, and case conferences as appropriate. To liaise with and work as an integral member of the multi-disciplinary team, building and maintaining effective working relationships within the Trust and the health economy. Person specification

Qualifications

Experience

Experience of working in different clinical settings within the NHS. Dietetic experience in a range of professional practice areas including acute inpatients and outpatients. Demonstrate relevant experience of working autonomously clinically including organisation and management of caseload, working to agreed objectives and deadlines without supervision. Experience of pre-registration practice training for student Dietitians. Demonstrate good IT skills including competence in the use of specialist dietary analysis computer programmes, word processing, spreadsheets, and data inputting. Experience of working within a Trauma rehab setting. Personal Qualities

Can work across a wide range of organisations and settings. Ability to travel between UHNM sites.
