To provide clinical leadership in acute medical patient care developing the interface between Acute and Emergency Medicine. You will be part of a dedicated team of Acute Physicians providing Consultant cover for our dynamic and well-supported departments at UHNM. A dedicated team of Acute Physicians with a budgeted establishment of over 17.50 WTE Consultants provides Consultant cover for a dynamic and well-supported 58 bedded AMU with a projected 12-hour length of stay and a 22 bed Short Stay Unit (SSU). We have established an 11 bed higher monitoring unit (HMU) which is integrated within the AMU and we have ultrasound facilities available. Main Duties of the Job

University Hospitals of North Midlands has two sites: Royal Stoke University Hospital, located in Stoke-on-Trent, and County Hospital, located in Stafford. From these hospitals, we provide a full range of general acute hospital services for people living in and around Staffordshire and beyond. The Trust also provides specialised services for three million people in a wider area, including neighbouring counties and North Wales. Our specialised services include cancer diagnosis and treatment, cardiothoracic surgery, neurosurgery, renal and dialysis services, neonatal intensive care and paediatric intensive care. We are recognised for our particular expertise in trauma, respiratory conditions, spinal surgery, upper gastro-intestinal surgery, complex orthopaedic surgery, laparoscopic surgery and the management of liver conditions. Qualifications

Entry on Specialist Register in Acute Internal Medicine or General Internal Medicine or entry expected within 6 months from the date of interview MRCP or equivalent MD, PhD or equivalent Specialty Certificate Examination in Acute Internal Medicine Experience

Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for gaining (UK) CCT in Acute Internal Medicine (AIM) or General Internal Medicine (GIM) Higher training in a dedicated Acute Medicine specialty training scheme. Critical Care experience Academic, Research & Publications

Experience of conducting clinical audit. To have published in peer-reviewed journals. Management Experience

Higher teaching qualification Disclosure and Barring Service Check
