Are you a qualified solicitor, chartered legal executive, barrister (or equivalent)? Do you also have solid experience in making effective evidence-based decisions? We are looking to appoint three adjudicators to make regulatory decisions for us on a broad range of work. This is a full-time hybrid role and can be based either in Birmingham, Cardiff or London. The role You must be either: a solicitor, barrister, chartered legal executive or have the equivalent legal professional status, with an entitlement to practise in England and Wales. You will also have significant experience in an environment where decision-making is required. This role needs someone who has deep skills, experience and judgement to reach reasoned and accurate decisions quickly. Our decisions require a detailed analysis of complex, technical, and often large amounts of information and evidence. You must demonstrate that you have sound and objective judgment, strong analytical skills and solid writing skills. You will be accountable for making clear, reasoned and proportionate decisions based on applying the relevant legal framework, policy and criteria to achieve outcomes that protect the public interest and mitigate regulatory risk. These include decisions on fining an individual or firm, imposing a regulatory control, rebuking an individual or firm, imposing conditions, intervening into a firm, considering an application for the payment of money from the compensation fund and reviewing a decision made by a decision maker in the operational team. Additionally, you will identify ways to improve the quality of decision making, deliver internal training and input into projects as required. What we are looking for We are looking for you to demonstrate that you possess the following knowledge, skills and experience. In your application you must provide examples to support each of the criteria listed below. Solicitor, legal executive, barrister or equivalent legal qualification with an entitlement to practise in England and Wales. Substantial decision-making experience and/or wide and deep knowledge of regulatory law with the ability to take accountability for important and difficult decisions based on the interpretation of legislation, policy and criteria. Strong analytical and drafting skills. The ability to influence and argue coherently, make findings on disputed facts and with consideration to risk. Track record of leading and delivering solutions, taking accountability for the successful resolution of very complex issues using judgement. Strong and focused communication skills with experience of building relationships and trust with staff and colleagues at all levels always remaining objective. Considers equality and fairness at all times. Resilient and able to work in a constantly changing environment. Useful and additional Information This is a hybrid role and the post-holder will work one to two days in the office with the rest of the week spent working at home. You can be based either in our Birmingham, Cardiff or London office. Some travel will be required to the SRA's other offices (usually to our Birmingham office). We are looking to appoint on a full-time basis (35 hours per week), however we may be able to consider candidates seeking part time work. The salary offer for this role is £63,742 for Birmingham and Cardiff based and £70,116 for London based.
