Job overview Adult Community Specialist Speech & Language Therapist - Band 6 Fixed Term Contract: 12 months A n exciting opportunity has arisen to join a forward-thinking and expanding community adult Speech and Language Therapy service. This role would suit a new or experienced Band 6 with an interest in Parkinson’s Disease, neurological disorders, and service development. This role would incorporate implementation of a quality improvement project for patients with Parkinson’s disease. This is a unique post where a suitably motivated SLT would have the following opportunities: Delivering high-quality clinical care in the community. Participating in a full quality improvement project with support from the organisation’s QI lead and senior therapists. Developing highly specialist skills in the management of patients with Parkinson’s Disease in line with NICE guidelines. Assisting with reshaping service provision to local care home residents. We will consider applications for part-time candidates. Postgraduate training and experience in dysphagia and independent dysphagia management is a requirement of this post. You will have relevant experience in managing adults with acquired swallowing and communication difficulties. You will be expected to contribute to audit, QI and service development and will receive regular clinical supervision, support through team meetings, monthly clinical forums, and access to further CPD opportunities. Evidence of appropriate qualification and HCPC membership is essential. Qualifications
Recognised speech & language therapy degree qualification or equivalent. Training
Evidence of Continuing Professional Development Evidence of appropriate external and internal training. Completion of clinical supervision training. Previous FEES experience. Experience
Substantial clinical experience with an adult acquired caseload. Assessment, treatment, management of complex patients with progressive neurological conditions. Experience of working with other professionals relevant to client groups. Skills
Able to demonstrate a high level of competence in the management of communication patients. To be able to independently assess and manage patients with dysphagia. Current UK driver’s license/Car driver with access to own car for work purposes.
