Adults Occupational Therapist – Moving and Handling Advisor Rate:
Up to £34 per hour An exciting opportunity for an occupational therapist to support the Moving with Dignity project aimed at reducing double-handed care packages to single-handed care. This role involves working with individuals who have complex needs, completing moving and handling assessments, and providing training to carers. What will your responsibilities be? You will conduct moving and handling assessments for individuals with complex needs and prepare detailed risk assessment reports. You will provide moving and handling training to both formal and informal carers, staying updated on the latest techniques and equipment. Understanding and managing complex physical disabilities, you will assist in the provision of equipment and major adaptations. Utilizing IT skills to support documentation and reporting, you will work independently, manage a busy workload, and build strong working relationships. Effective communication with professionals from partner agencies is essential, as is assessing needs, preparing care plans, and implementing them in accordance with current legislation. Qualifications and Experiences: To be successful in this role, you will need experience working with individuals who have complex needs and knowledge of up-to-date moving and handling techniques and equipment. An understanding of complex physical disabilities and experience in the provision of equipment and major adaptations are essential. Good IT skills are required, along with HCPC registration as an Occupational Therapist or an equivalent professional qualification with appropriate moving and handling skills and training.
