Advanced Clinical Pharmacist – Medicines Information

Interview will be held on 29th January 2025 We are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, and self-motivated pharmacist to join our friendly pharmacy team. This post, based in the Medicines Information (MI) department, would particularly suit a pharmacist with previous mental health experience who is looking to consolidate their skills. You will be responsible for delivering high quality expert answers to often complex queries that meet national quality standards and guide our psychiatrists' treatment decisions in patient care. Main duties of the job

The post holder will support the Lead Medicines Information Pharmacist to manage, develop and deliver the Medicines Information Service for Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. Expert Medicines Advice:

Provide specialist medicines advice to healthcare professionals at all levels, including consultant psychiatrists, and to patients and carers. Proactive information provision:

Contribute to the writing and dissemination of Medicines Information Bulletins, memos, prescribing guidelines, and other written information to promote quality and cost-effective prescribing in the Trust. Supervision and Training:

Supervise and train junior pharmacists and pre-registration pharmacists and technicians rotating through the Medicines Information service, contributing to their professional development. There may also be the opportunity to deliver a comprehensive clinical pharmacy service to a designated ward, developing expertise in a clinical sub-specialty. About us

Education/Qualifications/Training

Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) Clinical or psychiatric post-graduate certificate Clinical or psychiatric post-graduate diploma MSc in clinical or psychiatric pharmacy or relevant research subject Post-graduate qualification advanced communication skills, leadership or management Member of Professional organisation e.g. Royal Pharmaceutical Society, College of Mental Health Pharmacists Continuous Professional Development

Evidence of ongoing CPD Previous Experience

Substantial experience as a practising pharmacist Substantial experience of mental health hospital pharmacy Demonstrates commitment to clinical governance and quality improvement One or more years working in Medicines Information department to UKMI standards Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Able to communicate highly complex, sensitive, or contentious information Advanced keyboard skills and computer literate, with ability to use software packages Demonstrate and promote GPhC standards for pharmacy professionals Ability to work under pressure and respond to urgent requests interruptions Advanced analysis, critical appraisal, and problem-solving skills Working knowledge of PGDs Additional Requirements

Ability to travel efficiently between Trust sites Flexible approach to work patterns in line with needs of service e.g. EDC Disclosure and Barring Service Check
