The post holder, with support from the Nurse Consultant, will be responsible for a caseload of patients surgically and managing new and review nurse-led clinics in-person and via telemedicine. The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate communication and specialist skills, knowledge, and expertise in adnexal conditions.

Main duties of the job

In this part-time post, the successful candidate will be responsible for assessing the patients' adnexal condition at the first point of contact, providing autonomous practice that demonstrates a high level of accountability at an advanced clinical level, delivering high-quality direct patient care, making critical medical and surgical decisions, and providing treatment based on advanced clinical skills assessment and the ability to non-medically prescribe.

Job responsibilities

Practice autonomously demonstrating a high level of accountability at an advanced clinical level, delivering high-quality direct patient care, making critical clinical decisions based on advanced clinical skills assessment. With support from the Nurse Consultant, be responsible for a caseload of patients surgically and managing new and review nurse-led clinics in-person and via telemedicine. Work in partnership with individuals, families, and carers, using a range of assessment methods as appropriate (e.g. history-taking, holistic assessment, identifying risk factors, mental health assessments, requesting, undertaking and/or interpreting diagnostic tests, and conducting health needs assessments). Assess, diagnose, and treat patients, develop treatment plans within set guidelines, and record clinical findings using the department information systems, when necessary collaborate with the multiprofessional and/or refer to senior clinical colleagues as appropriate. Challenge practice so that the best and most appropriate treatment is given to the patient, maintaining and monitoring high standards of care, recognising and responding proactively to patients' changing clinical needs. Maintain professional competence, authority, and credibility by undertaking regular clinical sessions in line with your job plan (Appendix 2) and being highly visible to patients, carers, and staff, actively seeking feedback about the quality of services. Collaborate in the establishment and monitoring of protocols/care pathways. Critically apply your advanced clinical expertise to provide consultancy across professional and service boundaries, influencing clinical practice to enhance quality, reduce unwarranted variation, and promote the sharing and adoption of best practice. Actively participate in case discussions and multi-disciplinary team meetings, liaise with inter-hospital departments/personnel across organisations and professional boundaries. Be conversant with trust policies, procedures, and systems for safeguarding including the assessment of Mental Capacity, the process for consideration requests for Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DOLS), and the application of the principles of Prevent (counter-terrorism awareness). Provide advice and support to clinical staff in implementing policies and procedures. Be a non-medical independent prescriber, in accordance with policies, current legislation, and Patient Group Directions (PGDs).

Desirable Attendance at Adnexal Training Courses

Experience

Essential Adnexal Band 7 Experience

Desirable 2 years or more experience in oculoplastics
