Are you an enthusiastic, motivated, and dynamic clinical pharmacist looking to work within a well-respected Clinical Team in a role that offers opportunities to develop prescribing clinics within chronic kidney disease and kidney transplant follow up?

Based in our dialysis units, this role is ideal for a pharmacist looking to maximise existing renal clinical knowledge and prescribing skills, whilst also expanding clinical leadership experience. You will be supported by the North Wales Renal Teams and Clinical Network to contribute to audit and clinical governance developing guidelines and clinical pathways. There will be ample opportunity to expand the clinical aspect of the role and this is actively encouraged by the consultant nephrology team and specialist nurses.

As a team, we have a strong commitment to advancing pharmacy clinical practice and embedding effective medicines optimisation systems into patient care across the whole system. We are therefore looking for individuals with good organisational and communication skills who are keen to be involved in the further development of clinical services and can carefully challenge the status quo.

The successful candidate will play an influential role in the patients care pathway whilst building upon proven clinical skills through team leadership, multidisciplinary and collaborative working, both within primary and secondary care.

Main duties of the job

Lead a safe and effective specialist clinical pharmacy service to allocated area. Undertake professional and clinical pharmacist's duties. Provide expert pharmaceutical advice and support within both primary and secondary care services as required. Develop, encourage and promote evidence-based, cost effective use of medicines. Be involved in the training of diploma, pre-registration and other pharmacists in area of speciality. Assist in providing clinical training and supervision of pharmacy staff and other healthcare professionals. Be involved in the development and delivery of practice research, service and quality improvement. Develop policies, protocols and guidelines within allocated area. Work in partnership with service users and other health and social care colleagues to achieve the optimum health outcome for service users.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post. Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications and/or Knowledge

Essential

MPharm degree or equivalent. Registered with the General Pharmaceutical council. Post Graduate MSc/Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent experience and/or qualifications.

Desirable

Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society & registration with the Faculty. Accredited or eligible to be accredited as a Higher Education Institute Clinical Pharmacy diploma/MSc tutor. Training qualification Leadership and/or management qualification. Non-medical prescribing qualification (or working towards).

Experience

Essential

Must be able to demonstrate suitable level of experience working in the managed sector and/or community pharmacy.

Desirable

Experience in relevant clinical area. Leadership and management experience.

Aptitude and Abilities

Essential

Good verbal/written communication skills. Demonstrate ability to influence and negotiate within a multidisciplinary team setting. Evidence of implementation of change. Good communicator, motivated, able to lead and work as part of a team. Ability to set and meet deadlines. Ability to prioritise and delegate. Development of protocols and procedures.

Desirable

Evidence of successful management of people. Teaching and presentational skills. Evidence of supervising or mentoring pharmacy staff.
