Due to the retirement of the current postholder, the Community Occupational Therapy Team require an ambitious, experienced Occupational Therapist to lead the Moving and Handling Service in Rochdale. Applications are welcome from Occupational Therapists experienced in the moving and handling of individuals. We are a friendly supportive team who share knowledge and skills. You will manage the Moving and Handling Team, which consists of an Occupational Therapist, Occupational Therapy assistants, and a Moving and Handling associate. You will also be required to manage your own caseload and complete specialist assessments. The Moving and Handling team has their own training room and the successful candidate will oversee, develop, and deliver the Moving and Handling training of OT staff, social care staff, and care providers alongside other Occupational Therapy staff. A good working knowledge of the legislation involved in Moving and Handling Practice and the responsibilities of the assessor and prescribers and providers of Moving and Handling equipment is required. The Community Occupational Therapy Team are contributing to project work within Adult Care including Prevention and Dual Care Reviews to incorporate a strength-based approach as part of our holistic assessment; this is an exciting time to join our Service. You will be working alongside Community Occupational Therapists and other Advanced Practitioner OTs. The role includes managing referrals into the service, assessment, provision and review of Moving and Handling equipment, completion of Moving and Handling risk assessments, as well as providing advice to Health and Social care staff. Our friendly dynamic Community OT team consists of a Team Manager, Advanced Practitioners, Occupational Therapists, and Occupational Therapy assistants. Community OT in Rochdale is closely linked with the 5 Localities, as well as the Short term Assessment and Reablement Service (STARS) Team and the social care team in Prevention. Opportunities for training and enhancement are available in-house and external Moving and Handling (Train the Trainer) Courses are supported. The OTs have their own Practice Development Group (PDG) and work closely across the borough to support and share learning. Supervision is from the Community Occupational Therapy Team Manager. This is a great time to be joining our award-winning adult care service and helping to make a positive difference to our residents’ lives. The work is hybrid with office base and home working. The post holder must be able to demonstrate an ability to travel around the Borough of Rochdale. This post is subject to satisfactory two-year reference history, Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check, medical clearance, evidence of essential qualifications, and proof of legal working in accordance with Asylum and Immigration Act 1996.
