The Northwest Ambulance Service (NWAS) is expanding its clinical workforce by introducing a new Advanced Practitioner role open to suitably experienced Nurses and Paramedics.

The post provides an exciting opportunity for motivated Paramedics and Nurses to be involved in the Trust's new delivery model. You will rotate between the Clinical Hub providing telephone triage to NWAS patients and responding to designated NWAS sites to patients who have the potential to be treated at home, responding in a non-emergency vehicle.

The post holder will be an experienced Paramedic or Nurse, who, acting within their professional boundaries, will provide enhanced clinical decision-making to support pathways of care to lower acuity patients both through telephone consultation and face-to-face assessment. You will ensure the delivery of excellent patient care through the continuous achievement of high clinical standards. You will work autonomously and support patients within our community. You will be expected to undertake relevant research and development activities and to support underpinning knowledge. Opportunity to achieve a Level 7 Advanced Clinical Practice module will be provided if you do not already hold this qualification. You will also provide guidance and mentorship to peers within your role.

These posts will suit highly motivated patient-focused practitioners who wish to further develop their clinical skills and experience by working in an urgent and emergency care setting. If you are comfortable working autonomously whilst having the support of a close clinical team and want to work for an organisation that is rethinking the way urgent and emergency care is delivered, apply now.

North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust provides 24-hour, 365 days a year accident and emergency services to those in need of emergency medical treatment and transport. Our highly skilled staff provide life-saving care to patients in the community and take people to hospital or a place of care if needed. We also provide non-emergency patient transport services for those patients who require non-emergency transport to and from hospital and who are unable to travel unaided because of their medical condition or clinical need.

Alongside the other emergency services, we also work to ensure the safety of the public and treatment of patients in the event of a major incident. We also deliver the NHS 111 service in the North West. NHS 111 replaced NHS Direct in 2013. This service was introduced to make it easier for people to access local NHS healthcare services in England. It provides non-emergency medical help fast, and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

The selection process will include: Objective structured clinical exam – 03, 04 and 05 January 2025, successful candidates will then be invited to interview the week commencing 06 January 2025.

This advert closes on Tuesday 17 Dec 2024.
