We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for an experienced, innovative, and dynamic Band 7 Speech and Language Therapist to join our friendly team at the University Hospital of North Midlands NHS Trust (UHNM). The post is based within Critical Care at Royal Stoke University Hospital and involves working with a range of disciplines as part of the dynamic and innovative Critical Care Rehabilitation Team. The post holder will manage a varied caseload of patients with communication difficulties and dysphagia, arising from a range of aetiologies. We welcome applications from therapists who have experience of working with ventilator-dependent patients, tracheostomy, Videofluoroscopy of swallowing (VFS), and Fibreoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES). Experience
Evidence of expert/advanced clinical knowledge relevant to the post. Assessment and management of patients with complex communication and swallowing disorders at a minimum of Band 6. Ability to prioritise a clinical caseload safely and to delegate to other members of the team appropriately. Working effectively in a multidisciplinary team. Participation in leadership courses. Completed RCSLT FEES competency framework. Completed RCSLT tracheostomy competency framework. Completed RCSLT VF competency framework. Qualifications
Degree in Speech and Language Therapy or equivalent. Experience in the NHS. Registration with HCPC and RCSLT. Post Graduate RCSLT accredited dysphagia course or equivalent. Masters qualification in a relevant area that will support the delivery of the service. Disclosure and Barring Service Check
