Job description Job responsibilities This is an exciting new opportunity to join the Plastic Surgery Rehabilitation Hand Therapy service based at the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (Eastern services). We are advertising for a Band 7 Advanced Therapist (up to 37.5 hours) to work in the Hand Therapy department on the main Royal Devon & Exeter hospital site (Wonford).
The post holder will carry a clinical caseload of complex patients within hand trauma providing highly specialist assessment and intervention and will take a lead in multi-disciplinary activities. The post-holder will run therapy-led hand clinics on behalf of the Exeter hand trauma unit, providing initial assessment and diagnosis, requesting and interpreting investigations, providing therapeutic procedures autonomously, and arranging follow up for patients in a timely manner.
The post holder will work as a highly specialist practitioner in the rehabilitation of patients with hand conditions, providing interventions including splinting. The role will also support Hand Therapy colleagues with the management of planned surgery and other hand conditions.
The post-holder will provide leadership, supervision and teaching of junior and undergraduate staff working in the hand therapy department, overseeing the care of patients where appropriate. They will be responsible for the therapy provision in terms of performance, outcomes and service delivery and lead the development of the hand trauma rehabilitation pathway alongside the Clinical Lead Hand Therapist. They will also work closely with the hand surgeons and hand trauma ACPs.
Working days are to be confirmed dependent on clinic plans and the post may be required to work across 7 days including weekends.
Working Pattern:
Monday - Friday with weekend working at a frequency of one weekend day every four weeks.
