BASIC FUNCTION The candidate will be a core member of Solomon’s Solutions Delivery team focused on Solomon’s global advisory business. The Senior Advisor will be responsible for client engagement, project management, benchmarking activities, maintaining technical integrity of advisory projects for which they are responsible, and for providing subject-matter expertise related to business performance and operations, in the area of Refining production operations. The candidate will directly contribute to the success and profitability of Solomon’s core businesses, where engagements may be individual or in collaboration with other team members. In this role, the candidate will work as a client-facing advisor, an advisor to other client teams, and as a creative problem-solver that enables client success. Solomon’s engagements cover a wide range of topics, from strategy to operational improvements. The Senior Advisor will have rounded expertise in multiple areas of refining production operations. The Senior Advisor is expected to become proficient in Solomon’s benchmarking methodologies and studies that, when combined with industry experience, will develop a strong belief in the benefits Solomon’s unique approach provides to clients. Senior Advisors are expected to lead and participate in Solomon advisory engagements at client locations worldwide, with associated travel (domestic and international) up to 25% of the time. This position would be based in Solomon’s Dallas, Houston, Bahrain, or UK office. Solomon offers a hybrid work schedule. Remote US/UK locations may also be considered. RESPONSIBILITIES Services Delivery Delivers services, products and solutions and acts as a Project Manager for assigned projects, or as a Refining Unit Subject Matter Expert. Delivers benchmarking study results presentation to Clients. Analyzes client data to determine performance and working with clients develops products and programs to facilitate performance improvement. Reviews client data to improve accuracy and consistency of data quality. Client Partner Serves as Client Partner for assigned client accounts and is the client relationship manager and trusted technical advisor for Solomon services, studies and products. Will have several assigned clients from single site through to Multi-National Major Energy companies with multiple assets. Internal Collaboration Provides support to product management teams, advises on customer feedback/satisfaction, and introduces product development ideas. Collaborates on product development features. Resource Planning Provides project management, including resource and cost forecasting, using ERP system, resource planning, and negotiation for resources. EDUCATION Required: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical, Petroleum, or related engineering fields) Preferred: Master’s degree and/or advanced professional degree preferred (e.g., MBA, PhD, etc.) WORK EXPERIENCE Required: 15+ years in the Refining energy industry. Petrochemical Operations or consultancy experience are equally valuable. 10+ years in the Refining Energy industry in Petrochemical Operations and/or industry consultancy experience. Experience should include at least four of the following areas: operations management, production operations, facilities engineering, maintenance, turnarounds, operations readiness, operations continuous improvement, health and safety, operating costs, and supply chain management. Preferred: Refining, or chemicals operations experience Consulting experience, both internal and external Process Improvement, energy or emissions reduction project experience Strategic Planning/Investment experience Site based technical or management operational leadership roles Experience with Solomon’s benchmarking studies KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS Required: Demonstrated ability to translate data and information into practical solutions and recommendations. Demonstrated ability to approach clients with a good balance of technical understanding and commercial savvy; knows when and where to draw the line when proposing solutions to clients. Understanding of the nuances of working with clients from multiple social, ethnic, cultural and business backgrounds. Ability to present and provide insightful analysis up to and including the C Suite of multinational companies and federal-level governmental agencies. Ability to develop new advisory business, provide support to Business Development Team, and ability to expand services/solutions. Proficient project management skills to manage key project workflows and overall coordination of projects. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to include verbal, written, public speaking, listening and presentation skills. Ability to build strong client relationships and deliver client-centric solutions. Excellent people skills with the ability to successfully collaborate in a global, multi-disciplinary, diverse, matrixed, and dynamic team environment. Familiar with data analytics methods and tools. Ability to explain complex analytical concepts to people from other fields. Dedication to creating high-quality solutions, delivery of high-quality work products, written proposals, and materials within deadlines and using Solomon documentation standards as appropriate. Understanding of business operations, key performance metrics, and the ability to align data analysis with strategic business objectives. Ability to apply Solomon methodologies as analysis tools to support recommended improvement changes to a client’s current operations. Demonstrate superior analytical skills, quantitative problem-solving skills even when problems are not well defined. Knowledge of engineering calculations, spreadsheet or database expert user. Demonstrated ability to lead in difficult situations. Proficient in Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Demonstrated ability to influence change and support/drive change management which positively impacts overall profitability of the business. Effectively and efficiently navigate workflows and processes to accomplish work and the ability to identify and recommend improvement. Proven track record of continuous improvement and creating new and better ways for the organization to be successful. Actively coaches other advisors in areas of subject matter expertise.
