to join the Aeromechanics team within the Fluid Mechanics function, based in Derby. As an

Aeromechanics Code Developer – CFD Developer , you will form part of a world-class methods development team in fluid-structure interactions, set against uniquely challenging technical problems. You will be supporting Rolls-Royce aeromechanics teams globally and contributing towards improving aviation safety and reducing the environmental impact of air travel. Work within our team spans the whole product lifecycle and ranges from capability acquisition to the assessment and mitigation of aeromechanics threats on new products. We also provide support for production and service issues within our extensive fleet of large civil gas turbine engines. The aeromechanics methods team develops technology across TRLs 1-6 in collaboration with our strategic partners and global user community to provide Rolls-Royce with the future of aeromechanics prediction capability and deliver safe and environmentally friendly engines. What you will be doing: With this attractive opportunity you will get a chance to: Use your numerical methods and programming skills to demonstrate, mature, and deliver the future of aeromechanics prediction capability. Work with a global user community to deliver prediction capability and maintain robustness for the safety of Rolls-Royce engines. Work with academic partners to develop and deliver capability acquisition strategies. Participate in national and EU R&T projects. Embed and promote continuous improvement practices. Who we are looking for: To be successful in this role you will need: To be qualified to a Master’s level in a STEM subject, preferably with experience in developing CFD, vibration, or fluid-structure-interaction models in either academia or industry. Good programming skills in Fortran90 and Python. Familiarity with parallel programming (MPI, OpenMP). Knowledge of the use of accelerator cards (GPUs) would be beneficial. Proven aerothermal analysis skills and experience with CFD solvers. Experience with scale-resolving simulations (LES, DNS) would be beneficial. Strong communication and presentation skills, particularly in concisely discussing complex technical subjects. Strong team working skills and appreciation for group achievements.
