Qualified to at least Level 3 in Childcare, and aged 25+ to be covered on Nursery Insurance to drive the vehicles for school collections. DESIRED:

Previous experience of leading a team of staff in childcare is desirable. HOURS:

20-30 hours per week, can be made up through different shift options - 1/2 full days & 3 afternoons, 4 afternoons or 5 afternoons. Shift pattern each week, hours worked each shift varies between - 7.30-5:30, 8-6, or 12-6 pm. PURPOSE OF THE POST: As Room Leader you will be responsible for the general running of the Afterschool Room including management of the staff within the room and organizing the day-to-day routine. This will include: Maintaining a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care and development for children placed in the room. Good communications and liaison with the manager and owners. Fostering good professional relationships with the parents. Liaison with Social Services, Environmental Health, Health Visitor, local schools and any other professional bodies. PRINCIPAL DUTIES: To be responsible for the supervision and care of all the children attending the Nursery. To plan and operate a programme of activities suitable to the age range and development of the children in your care, this will be done in conjunction with the Manager and other staff. To maintain a secure, safe and happy environment for the children. To understand, value and encourage stages of child development, ensuring that all children are treated and respected as individuals, with their individual needs catered for. To promote equal opportunities throughout the day in the Nursery. To work alongside parents/main carers of special needs children to achieve full integration within the Nursery. To promote a happy atmosphere for children and to give support to parents and other family members. In conjunction with the staff based in the Afterschool Room, plan and implement programme activities based upon a theme, ensuring all work is age appropriate. To maintain confidentiality in respect to the children's records and regarding any discussion with staff relating to nursery issues. To direct and motivate staff within the Nursery, supporting staff and creating good team spirit. To ensure the smooth running of the Afterschool Room and make sure that adequate information is given during staff exchanges. To be responsible for the promotion and maintenance of a good public image of the day Nursery, liaising with and supporting parents and other family members. To ensure that Social Service Guidelines are adhered to and that all Nursery Policies are carried out. To ensure Health and Safety is paramount. To make safe any monies, informing the manager as soon as possible so any relevant paperwork can be carried out. To give guidance and support to students and non-qualified members of staff, ensuring they follow the guidelines set down by Social Services and are aware of the Nursery Policies. To attend staff meetings outside working hours. To ensure that all toys are kept clean and in working order. To ensure a high standard of cleanliness, tidiness and hygiene is maintained within the Nursery. To ensure all routines are accurately followed, ensuring spontaneity is encouraged where appropriate. To assist with any first aid when required. To work alongside the Manager and owners to ensure that the philosophy behind the Nursery is fulfilled. To undertake any other duties as may be requested from time to time by the owners.
