Aftertreatment System Development Engineer Peterborough / Hybrid working - 3 days on-site per week 12 month contract An exciting opportunity exists within the Component Engineering department to lead design and development of Exhaust System, across new and current products. Responsibilities include: Plan and deliver Aftertreatment system/component development projects to time, cost and quality goals. Assess technical risk through FMEA; define and coordinate simulation and validation activities (DVP&R). Knowledge of troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques (8D); ability to anticipate, detect and resolve technical problems in a manufacturing environment. Planning and improving testing procedures and operations to make the test more reliable, efficient and cost-effective. Monitoring results, machine and process capabilities and performance reliability. Communicate project status and key issues to peers, stakeholders and management. Collaborate with suppliers to develop specifications and deliver quality solutions through APQP. Write and review technical information and technical reports to support production design release. Collaborate with global teams to implement engineering solutions at worldwide facilities. Reflect on lessons learnt, using Lean methodology to identify improvement opportunities. Qualifications & Experience Required: Bachelor’s degree in an accredited Engineering or related discipline (or equivalent knowledge/experience). 6+ years of engineering or relevant experience. Good understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals, engine components and/or systems and component development. Good understanding of manufacturing principles and processes. Self-motivated and able to manage and deliver complex projects to meet commitments. Effective communication skills and teamwork with both internal teams and external suppliers. Previous knowledge and experience of diesel engine development and new product introduction; basic awareness of aftertreatment system function. Troubleshooting Technical Problems: Adheres to standard troubleshooting procedures to ensure effectiveness of resolution. Experience of leading and participating in APQP, FMEA and DVP&R. Strong analytical skills, and experience of developing components and systems through simulation, rig testing and complete system testing.
