We are looking for a dedicated, experienced Alternative Education Teacher to join our KS3/KS4 provision.Our Alternative Education provisions have an excellent reputation for supporting the education of vulnerable students who are autistic, have attachment difficulties, and have social, emotional and mental health needs.Students and staff benefit from access to excellent facilities on our split site, including access to our School Farm, Construction Hub and Outdoor Learning Centre. Working 1:1 or in small groups with a high staffing ratio allows us to provide highly bespoke and individualised educational provision to our students with additional support provided by our therapy and pastoral teams. The post holder will be a key part of an exciting phase of development of our KS3 and KS4 provision. It will involve developing a Functional Skills programme supplemented by a multi-pathway vocational skills qualification framework. This development will be supported by the Head of Alternative Education, the department SENCO, the Senior Teacher, the Exams Coordinator and all the other specialists within the wider organisation. In fulfilling the requirements of the post, the teacher will demonstrate essential professional characteristics and will: To support the aims and ethos of the NFCE Alternative Education settings; To meet the standards set out in the teachers’ standards regulations;Setting a good example in terms of dress, punctuality and attendance;Attending all staff/curriculum and subject meetings;To promote the welfare of children and to support the school in safeguarding children through relevant policies and procedures;Inspire trust and confidence in students and colleagues;To create an environment that engages and motivates students;To maintain good order and discipline among the students, safeguarding their health and safety; Being proactive in matters of Health and Safety;To organise and manage groups or individual students, ensuring individualisation of learning needs;Demonstrate analytical thinking to improve the quality of students' learning, contribute to the provision improvement/development planning and promote the learning priorities of the school SDP (School Development Plan);Have lead responsibility for a subject or aspect of the school's work and develop plans which identify clear targets and success criteria for its development and/or maintenance;Promote the wider aspirations and values of the school and all education activities Qualifications and Training – Essential QTS or QTLS – Candidates with exceptional experience may be considered if they are working towards this status and will be employed as a UQT and be supported to complete the qualification. Qualifications and Training – Desirable An Outdoor Education AwardA Vocational Skills Award in a relevant subject, such as construction, horticulture, IT, or Catering. Experience - Essential Knowledge and understanding of working within a SEN environment.Have experience teaching maths and English functional skills. Skills and knowledge Good communication and presentation skills.An attention to detail in written work, delivery, and communication.Ability to develop positive relationships with students, parents and colleagues.Good organisational skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines under pressure.
