Duties will include overseeing all animals within the animal collection, including feeding animals and cleaning pens and aquaria, checking animals for signs of ill health, enclosure maintenance and ensuring that environmental parameters remain optimal across a range of taxa. The role also involves supporting the full-time Animal Technician in their daily animal care duties where necessary. Key Tasks and Responsibilities To be an excellent team player in an evolving team focused on expanding and improving the animal collection To manage the day-to-day husbandry of all species within the animal collection as well as to support, where needed, other members of staff, including the lecturing team. When needed, to supervise and train groups of learners whilst they carry out industry experience within the Animal Centre Beneficial Skills & Qualifications Level 3 qualification or higher in an animal related subject Minimum of 1 years’ experience working in the animal industry Previous experience of supervising work experience students and/or volunteers Knowledge of animal nutrition, health and safety requirements and animal welfare legislation Keen interest in aquatic husbandry – including marine setups Basic Health and Safety Qualifications Please apply online by:
