An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 (minimum 2 years experience) midwife to work within the Antenatal and Newborn Screening team. The role requires knowledge and understanding of the Public Health England national antenatal and newborn screening programmes. The advert is for a part-time position of 34 hours. Working hours will be Monday to Saturday, with varied shifts between the hours of 8 am and 6 pm. We require candidates who are interested in all aspects of the antenatal and newborn screening programmes. Main duties of the job

The post holder will support the NUH trust Antenatal and newborn screening coordinators who are responsible for the delivery of the national antenatal and newborn screening programmes. The post holder will be involved in audit, practice change and development, support with national and local data collection, quarterly KPI and annual data submissions, contribute to annual reports, education and training of registered and non-registered staff members, monitor and action national screening programme failsafes and attend national and local meetings. Training and Qualifications

Registered Midwife band 6. Have a suitable Teaching & Assessing Qualification. Possession of a Mentoring Course. Demonstrates continuous personal & professional development. Evidence working with HIV positive pregnant women. NIPE qualification. Pegasus / Genetic Risk Assessment and Counselling course. Degree in health related subject. Counselling course / qualification. Antenatal Screening Module. Experience

Experience at Band 6 for a minimum of 3 years. Supervision & evidence of ability to mentor non-registered staff & midwifery/nursing students. Ability to convey sensitive information in an empathetic manner to patients, relatives/carers and staff. Knowledge and understanding of PHE national requirements for Antenatal and newborn Screening Programmes. Experience working within a MDT. Evidence of conducting Audits. Evidence of service development. Communication and relationship skills

Demonstrates effective written and verbal communication skills. Produce timely, accurate written/electronic records and documents. Demonstrates IT skills, use of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Microsoft Teams. Demonstration of team working & ability to work within a team. Ability to communicate clearly with other professionals. Experience in contributing as an active member of multidisciplinary meetings. Analytical and judgement skills

Demonstrate an ability to assess, plan, deliver, prioritise and evaluate patient care. Ability to identify own learning needs. Be perceptive to the needs of other team members. Evidence of data collection and analysis. Formal training or qualification in audit and/or research. Demonstrates leadership skills. Physical skills

Physically able to perform the full range of Midwifery duties. Sit at a desk for long periods of time. Other requirements

Up to date knowledge of topics pertinent to midwifery; politically aware. Understanding of audit, risk management & clinical standards. Demonstrates enthusiasm for the development of midwifery practice & a commitment to women-centred care.
