This is the job

As the Application Support Delivery Lead, you will manage Road IT infrastructure projects, third-party management, and cloud spend for the Road estate, including developing businesses like Prestige and DriveTech. This role involves overseeing both third-party and bespoke in-house developed applications.

You’ll implement projects for Road Applications and infrastructure, recommend service improvements and cost efficiencies, and manage escalations across the road portfolio. You’ll deputise for the Head of Application Support, manage relationships with third parties, oversee Road on-prem and cloud infrastructure, implement our cloud strategy, deliver 24/7 monitoring for Platinum & Gold applications, and manage Risk Management remediation actions across the Road estate.

What will I be doing?
  • Manage support and maintenance projects across the road portfolio, including Road Operations, Road Commercial, DriveTech, and Prestige.
  • Lead infrastructure operations (cloud and on-prem) for support, maintenance, continuous improvement, and platform modernisations and migrations.
  • Lead the fortnightly Support and Maintenance scrum, ensuring tasks are assigned and actioned, and support the Road Release manager to improve the quality of all releases.
  • Work closely with Delivery Leads, team leads, and the SDM community to ensure business requirements, design, and development of solutions align with our support model and strategy.
  • Own and automate the daily check process across the road estate to provide a real-time view of service status and manage DevOps processes within assigned applications.
  • Act as a role model by demonstrating best practices, providing management callouts for 2nd and 3rd line support ‘out of hours,’ and maintaining technical documentation.
What do I need?
  • Strong project/programme management experience within IT across a broad range of technologies and applications.
  • Proven ability to deliver enhancements, upgrades, and new platforms/software from concept through to implementation.
  • Key stakeholder management experience, with the ability to translate technical terms to non-technical audiences at various seniority levels across multiple business teams.
  • Experience leading/managing a mix of in-house teams and third-party/offshore colleagues within both waterfall and agile models.
  • Demonstrate commitment to continual improvement for both customers and the business by being proactive with identifying areas for enhancement, and confidently share your ideas. Own these initiatives and drive them forward to implementation, ensuring that they contribute to the overall success and efficiency of the organisation.
  • Strong technical aptitude, data-driven, committed to continual assessment and improvement, and able to objectively challenge peers, superiors, and vendors while being pragmatic and adaptable to business needs.
Additional information

We’re always looking to recognise and reward our employees for the work they do. As a valued member of The AA team, you’ll have access to a range of benefits including:

  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays + holiday buying scheme
  • Worksave pension scheme with up to 7% employer contribution
  • Free AA breakdown membership from Day 1 plus 50% discount for family and friends
  • Discounts on AA products including car and home insurance
  • Employee discount scheme that gives you access to a car salary sacrifice scheme plus great discounts on healthcare, shopping, holidays and more
  • Company funded life assurance
  • Diverse learning and development opportunities to support you to progress in your career
  • Dedicated Employee Assistance Programme and a 24/7 remote GP service for you and your family

Plus, so much more!

We’re an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from everyone. The AA values diversity and the difference this brings to our culture and our customers.
