The Packaging Material Expert in the Advanced Solutioning – Application Team will work mainly towards understanding the impact of packaging materials on the full supply chain of fast-moving consumer goods. This includes but is not limited to the use of recycled PET within the beverage industry. The Packaging Material Expert will work to increase Husky’s knowledge primarily in preparing, processing, and handling alternative materials. Key Responsibilities / Area of Accountability: Scientific understanding and model-based analysis to determine application, technology, and process feasibility. Research and develop new packaging solutions to meet the needs/feed the application pipelines of all business units. Plan, design, and execute tests to validate potential application products in a scientific manner. End-to-end engineering from idea generation and prototype development through proof-of-concept validation, product development to eventual launch. First principle research, including bibliographic searches and technology scouting. Work closely with a team of cross-functional domain experts in Product Development and Validation teams to integrate innovations and new technologies into practical solutions. In-depth technical research on new technologies, materials, processes, or landscape relating to the circular economy, recycled materials, environmental impact, and sustainable packaging. Qualifications: Engineering Degree preferably at Master’s or PhD level. An in-depth knowledge of plastics processing in general and more specific understanding in injection molding and blow molding. Experience in PET application, processing, and material preparation. Knowledge of PET recycling processes and technologies. Expertise in machine learning and data analysis (AI) is a plus. Ability to break down complex problems into functional subsystems, identifying the key parameters that drive performance. Communication, project management, and organization skills. Able to present and communicate high-level concepts to diverse audiences such as customers, executives, and management teams as well as fellow engineers. Strong technical and problem-solving skills, synthesizing information to solve problems. Fluent in English; other languages are considered an asset.
