Apprentice Groundcare Service Engineer HSS Hire Peterborough Permanent, full time

We’re not your average tool hire company. We’re innovative and pioneering – revolutionising the industry through the very latest in technology so that we can continue to go above and beyond for our customers. As an Apprentice Groundcare Service Engineer, you will learn through a dedicated mentor, our college provider over a three-year level 3 program and additional manufacturer training sessions, to service, repair and LOLER the full complement of groundcare hire equipment in the HSS range. What you’ll do day to day: Learn how to complete routine service and maintenance of all groundcare hire equipment and products under the guidance of the workshop mentor. Liaise with your mentor when spare parts are required for machines to ensure cost effective repairs are completed. Effectively use the on-site Kanbans to keep machines in available for hire state. Liaise with your mentor to advise on equipment recommendations regarding write off, damage, dirty and lost accessories, and recharge to customers where applicable. What you’ll bring: An ambition to learn in the field of mechanical and electrical engineering. A positive attitude, strong problem-solving skills, and excellent communication and organisational skills. A three-year commitment to attend college away from home to gain a qualification in plant maintenance. Proficiency with computer systems and strong numerical skills. Any experience in manual handling is beneficial but not essential. As part of this role, you will be signing up for the L3 Land-Based Service Engineer Apprenticeship. To meet our entry criteria, the successful candidate will hold GCSE or equivalent English & Maths (Grade 4 / C). What you’ll receive: Holiday buy scheme, of up to 5 extra holidays per year. Personalised training and development – you will get the opportunity to continuously further your career and complete courses suited to your role. Inclusive and innovative culture and great recognition. Discounts and cashback on our benefits site with a huge range of purchases including days out, restaurants, gym memberships, shopping, and lots more. 24/7 Consultation service, mental health support and a top healthcare cashplan saving money on dentistry, eye tests and more. At HSS, we celebrate diversity and inclusivity. We understand that, statistically, people of colour and women are less likely to apply unless they reach all the requirements stated in the job description. Therefore, we would like to encourage you to apply regardless if you feel your experience is not an exact match. We believe you could be the perfect fit for this role or a future position! We’re also incredibly proud to be a Disability Confident Committed Employer and believe that everyone should have the opportunity to contribute and thrive within our workforce – please do let us know if you require any reasonable adjustments during the recruitment process that will allow you to perform to the best of your ability.
