To work as part of a team to ensure safe and accurate delivery of radiotherapy to patients, treating a variety of sites under the supervision of a state registered radiographer at all times. Attendance of teaching sessions held at Sheffield Hallam University (SHU) is a mandatory element of the programme. Annual leave is to be taken outside of the university's teaching sessions. The post holder will be based in the radiotherapy department in Newcastle but may have the opportunity to visit other radiotherapy departments during their training. Commitment to study in work and at home throughout the duration of the apprenticeship programme, including attending online teaching sessions and completing all e-learning as instructed by SHU. To ensure that the Ionising Radiation Regulations 2017, IR(ME)R 2017 and associated codes of practice (Health Care Professions Council and Society of Radiographers) and guidance notes, together with the Health and Safety at Work Act, are adhered to in respect of staff, patients and other members of the public. Practise within the framework set out by the Society of Radiographers Code of Professional Conduct (2013) and the Health Care Professions Council Standards of Proficiency (2013) to maintain the professional standards of self. To implement the procedures and work instructions described for the department in ISO9001 and report any variances. Apply knowledge of hazards and biological effects of radiations to their practice within a risk-benefit philosophy and adhere to the Ionising Radiation Regulations 2017 and IRMER Regulations 2017. Responsible for the safe use of complex and expensive equipment in excess of £1 million pounds during training. No budgetary responsibility. Take a flexible approach in supporting colleagues during times of workload pressure. You will need to be able to meet all the eligibility requirements as prescribed by the apprenticeship criteria to undertake the role. To be eligible for an apprenticeship you must: Have the right to work and remain in the UK. Have lived in the UK for at least 3 years. Provide original evidence of required English and maths qualifications. Further information: You will not be considered if you have an equivalent or higher qualification in the same or a very similar subject. You must not be engaged in any other funded training or education programme. We cannot sponsor applicants during or on successful completion of the apprenticeship so please ensure you meet visa status eligibility. We cannot accept applications from student visa applicants. Please be advised if you are a 'Non-UK National' applicant you must meet the eligibility criteria and fulfil the settlement requirements of the apprenticeship course funding. Your settlement status will need to be verified as eligible for funding, by the relevant apprenticeship provider, for you to formally enroll on the course.
