Connect2Surrey Surrey County Council AMHP - up to 40 UMB Adults Services Frontline AMHP Team Job Description: As an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) you will assess, plan, and coordinate the care of individuals experiencing severe mental health difficulties, in line with the Mental Health Act. You will work collaboratively with individuals, families, carers, and other professionals to make informed decisions about treatment and care. Key Responsibilities: Conduct Mental Health Act assessments to determine the need for compulsory admission to a mental health facility. Consider the least restrictive options for treatment and care in line with legal and ethical principles. Work in partnership with service users, carers, healthcare professionals, and statutory agencies to coordinate care and ensure continuity. Facilitate communication between multi-disciplinary teams, including doctors, nurses, social workers, and other mental health professionals. Safeguard the rights, dignity, and well-being of individuals under the Mental Health Act. Advocate for service users to ensure their voices are heard in care planning and decision-making. Ensure all actions and decisions comply with the Mental Health Act, related legislation, and local authority policies. Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including statutory forms, reports, and care plans. Provide timely and effective responses during mental health crises, including risk assessments and managing challenging situations. Support the professional development of colleagues and provide training on mental health legislation and best practices. Stay updated on legislative changes, policies, and procedures relevant to the AMHP role. Connect2Surrey
