Next Generation are our first pair of glasses that bring augmented reality to life. We’re looking for an AR Optical Development Engineer to join the Optical Engine Delivery Team at Snap Inc! What you’ll do: The Optical Engine (OE) Delivery Team is responsible for the engineering, characterization, and manufacture of Snap’s AR display platform. The team delivers high-quality processes, instrumentation, and analysis to characterize and develop the next generation of AR products. The team works with third-party contract manufacturers to deliver OE’s in volume. You will: Help transfer designs and processes to contract manufacturers and manufacturing partners. Understand optical experimental methodology and have experience in an optical laboratory environment. Analyze incoming process data from the manufacturer and provide support with failure analysis. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Good optical engineering experience with a focus on manufacturing and processes. Ability to work in a dynamic environment with fast-changing needs and priorities. Prototyping and analysis of opto-mechanical designs. Minimum Qualifications: BSc in Physics, Optics, or other relevant engineering experience. Experience with transferring optical designs to a contract manufacturer. Experience with Optical (e.g., Zemax) and Mechanical (e.g., Solidworks) design software. Preferred Qualifications: 5+ years experience in optical engineering or PhD in physics, optics, or engineering. Understanding of manufacturing processes. Experience with mechanical design and rapid prototyping of jigs and fixtures. Experience in display testing and image quality evaluation. Experience in colorimetry and radiometry. Experience in AR/VR systems. Experience with micro displays. Understanding of polarizing optics. Understanding of diffractive optics. Software experience (e.g., Python or LabView).
