I have recently met with our client who is an established and successful architectural practice that now has an Architectural Principal Designer job available. They are looking to speak with Architects with experience in high-risk buildings who would be looking to gain registration as a Principal Designer.
Our client is an established multi-sector architectural practice, with a portfolio of projects that includes residential, healthcare, hospitality, commercial, and façade.
They currently have several projects involved in the remediation of cladding in a multi-level building located in London and a varied selection of retrofit projects across the UK.
Due to increased demand, they are now seeking an Architectural Principal Designer to join the team.
Role & Responsibilities
Advise on specific health & safety matters
Work across architectural projects and teams as Principal Designer Lead
Critically appraise design risk assessment submissions to the BSR
Fully understand and apply the Building Safety Act 2022
Review projects and designs and support with preconstruction health & safety matters
Have detailed working knowledge of cladding typologies
Support the client in providing preconstruction information
Coordinate all health & safety matters during preconstruction
Be registered with or working toward being a RIBA registered Principal Designer
Issue the health & safety document on completion
Work closely with the design team
Develop guidance materials and management tools
Work directly with clients
Carry out research on best practice methodology
Liaise with enforcing authorities
Navigate and use a CDE interface and curate information as part of the Golden Thread.
Required Skills & Experience
Possess experience working on high-risk buildings based in the UK
Be an ARB registered Architect
Fully understand and apply the Building Safety Act 2022
Have detailed working knowledge of cladding typologies
Skilled in the use of Revit would be highly advantageous.
Open to additional training and development.
