This role will require a customer focused outlook with responsibility for the strategic planning of financial resources as part of the Senior Management Team. This role will require you to have experience of leading and managing staff, establishing priorities and directing both strategic and operational work to ensure the effective delivery of services to schools. You will take a lead role in the delivery of the Local Authority's financial monitoring function, as it applies to maintained schools, and will engage and work with other service areas across the Directorate and beyond to ensure that financial risks to Birmingham City Council are minimised. As part of this role you will need excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills, together with strategic financial management experience, to enable you to appropriately support, advise and challenge Headteachers, School Governors and Interim Executive Boards in schools that are in financial difficulty.
