We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Area Operations Manager to oversee our operations within the Brighton and Eastbourne area. The ideal candidate will possess a keen ability to analyse operational efficiency and implement strategic initiatives that enhance performance across multiple locations, whilst retaining strong union relations. In this role, you will be responsible for leading a team covering multiple functions, ensuring operational goals align with agreed targets whilst adhering to GTR's vision and values, whilst maintaining the needs of our passengers. Your expertise in leadership, management, and operational excellence will be critical in driving improvements, optimising resources, and fostering a culture of accountability, honesty, and continuous improvement. Additionally, you will be tasked with developing and managing budgets, analysing key performance indicators, and working collaboratively with our stakeholders to achieve overall business objectives. The Area Operations Manager will play a vital role in maintaining strong relationships with both internal and external partners and local communities, representing the department with professionalism and integrity. With 300,000 passengers traveling daily, you'll quickly come to grasp the core processes underpinning our operation and take action to improve the way we deliver train services. Key responsibilities include:

Provide line management support to a multifunctional team within an operational environment.

Proactive management of productivity, including attendance management, in line with our company policies and employment legislation.

Ensure compliance at depot level with our operator licensing requirements.

Accountability for the safe provision of work-based facilities.

Through continuous liaison with the operations, engineering, and commercial teams within GTR and key suppliers (especially Network Rail), proactively identify and implement opportunities to improve train service performance.

Delivering the resource plan and financial budget for the specified depots.

Responsible for the delivery of customer service standards.

Work effectively with the local trade union representatives, resource managers, and roster clerks to ensure that all rostering actions are completed in the most effective and efficient manner, giving maximum productivity from the available resources.
