Art, Design and Technology Technician Aims:

To sustain and improve the quality of education offered to the boys in the school through promoting the highest possible standards, equality of opportunity, and an environment which is conducive to excellence in learning and teaching. The successful candidate will have proven practical and technical skills, with the ability to solve technical problems, strong organisational skills, and ICT skills, and an understanding of the relevant Health & Safety regulations relating to the safe operation of workshop machinery. We offer boys the opportunity to work in a wide range of resistant materials including woods, metals, plastics, MIG welding, brazing, pewter casting, jewellery work, 3D printing, and laser cutting. Context: The design technology department consists of a design studio for theory delivery and graphics complete with PC and CAD/CAM equipment including a large industrial laser cutter and 3D printers, a small materials storage area, and a clean desk/drawing space. We also have the benefit of a purpose-built design workshop housing a wide variety of hand and machine tools, a well-stocked resource area, and a heat/brazing hearth area along with a clean office/sixth form study area. The Technician/Support Teacher is an important member of staff and as such is required to attend departmental meetings when necessary. Purpose of Job: To provide support to teaching staff and classes within the design area. To help in the maintenance of a safe and productive area to work. To provide idea generation for the department (working with staff and the Head of Department) - helping to develop programs and adapting curriculum to meet individual student needs. Organised, tidy and capable of maintaining tools, equipment, and stock levels in a methodical and managed way. To help establish and maintain high standards of student behaviour needed to achieve an effective and efficient learning environment. MUST HAVE ENHANCED DBS! Job Types:
