A professional and longstanding provider of Asbestos Management services in the South of England is now seeking to take on a hardworking and experienced Asbestos Lab Supervisor. The successful candidate will hold the BOHS P401 and will have experience working within a busy laboratory environment. This role would suit someone who has extensive experience working as an Asbestos Lab Analyst looking to take the next step in their career and will be responsible for overseeing and managing a team of analysts in the laboratory, maintaining the company's UKAS accreditation, conducting laboratory audits, and carrying out bulk sample analysis. For the successful candidate, our client can offer training and progression into a deputy/quality role.
Experience & Qualifications: Holding the BOHS P401 is essential to the role. Experience working in a supervisory position. Experience working as an Asbestos Lab Analyst is essential to the role. Well versed in HSG 248 guidelines. Hardworking, proactive, and friendly. Excellent eye for detail. Able to work well under pressure. Good communication skills, able to liaise efficiently via phone, email, and face-to-face.
The Role: Efficiently overseeing and managing a team of lab analysts in a busy laboratory environment. Working closely with office staff to ensure smooth day-to-day running of the laboratory. Routinely carrying out laboratory audits. Maintaining the company's UKAS accreditation. Using PLM and stereo microscopy to carry out bulk sample analysis. Ensuring all samples are logged onto internal systems upon arrival. Bagging and labelling samples correctly and safely. Acting as the first point of contact for clients, producing technical support and advice when required while maintaining strong professional relationships. Updating internal systems ensuring both surveying and analytical job lists are updated. Undertaking effective document control. Calibrating equipment to ensure accuracy and arranging services when required. Organising waste collections. Accurately maintaining supplier and sub-contractor lists. Working to strict deadlines when coordinating AIMS and RICE. Carrying out monthly laboratory air tests and mobile laboratory air tests. Checking equipment in the laboratory, ensuring it is fully stocked, and ordering more when required. Ensuring work is carried out in line with HSG 248 guidelines.
